A second contract with the Minnesota Department of Corrections for minimum-security prisoners to work for the city of Coon Rapids was approved by the City Council March 22. This contract for seasonal workers runs from April 15 through Oct. 14, but the city also has a two-year contract in place for a full-year Institution Community Work Crew.Connexus Lighting May 2016 Rectangle According to Public Works Director Tim Himmer, the ICWC completes various maintenance and construction projects for the city, generally under the supervision of Public Works Department supervisory staff. “They have been a valuable asset to the community and have provided thousands of hours of labor at a very reasonable cost,” Himmer told the council.
