| Corrections Department details budget cut woes |

SHERIDAN — Like all Wyoming state agencies, the Department of Corrections is caught between budget cuts already made and more to come. In a letter from March that the department sent the Wyoming Board of Judicial Policy and Administration — a body that oversees the state’s court system, Director Robert Lampert detailed how cuts made by the 2016 Legislature would impact “areas of interest to the courts.” Those cuts will mean a reduction in substance abuse services, a possible increase in recidivism, more overtime for correctional officers and hamstrung drug court programs that aim to help offenders get clean.
