SALINAS, Calif. - Monterey County Sheriff deputies say they've been busy preventing drugs and other contraband from getting into the hands of inmates. Over the past week, deputies say suspects have been trying to smuggle drugs, tobacco and cellphones into the jail. Before they made it to the inmates, however, deputies seized the goods. Deputies found a plastic bag with methamphetamine, marijuana, tobacco, a cell phone and a charger that was thrown over the fence. They also found marijuana and tobacco in a non-secure area of the jail. Read More. |
