| DOC pulls female inmates from Union Parish Detention Center |

Six female inmates housed at the Union Parish Detention Center by the Louisiana Department of Corrections left the center on Monday after being pulled by the department Sheriff Dusty Gates said the six were all of the DOC females housed in the facility, which holds 165 DOC inmates out of a 277 total population. The pull occurred less than one month after a 17-year-old female inmate booked into UPDC high on methamphetamine was reportedly raped while in a holding cell and still under the influence. Following a Thursday night meeting of the Union Parish Detention Center Commission, Warden Jerry Ward said three employees at the facility have faced disciplinary action but stopped short of specifying whether a suspension or termination had occurred.
