| Keeping cell phones out of South Dakota Department of Corrections' facilities |

It's a security threat that can be felt throughout the US prison system -- inmates illegally obtaining cell phones and communicating with them. However, states need permission from the Federal Communications Commission before they can block cell signals in prisons. In the last eight years, 550 cell phones have been found at the Sioux Falls Community Work Center. However, only a couple of have been found in the secure facility over the past decade. "The inmates don't have quite the access to the community like the Community Work Center does," said South Dakota State Penitentiary Warden Darin Young.
