"It seems like a routine thing, going out to pick up a piece of mail," said James Miller, NYSCOPBA Director of Public Relations. Until the package literally explodes in your hands. That's what police say happened Sunday to a New York State Corrections Officer. According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, the 52 year old was severely injured when he opened a package right outside his home in the Town of Floyd. "I had a chance to see the room that he's in and the nurses that are taking care of him. He's getting the best care that he can get," said Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo visited the officer and his family at a Syracuse hospital Monday. He says the victim is in critical condition. Read More. |
