| Corrections officer recovering; multiple agencies investigate explosive package |

FLOYD, N.Y. - The investigation continues into who sent the explosive package that critically injured a NYS Corrections Officer. The C.O., whose identity is not being released for his own safety, went to open a package that was near his mailbox on Old Floyd Road in Floyd Sunday morning, when it exploded. Neighbors who heard it say the powerful blast sounded like two cars colliding head-on. The injured officer's corrections family statewide felt the reverberation. "We go in there, it's like doing battle every day. Not a lot of people on the outside know what goes on inside of a prison and what we have to deal with on a daily basis. Those men and women are professional. They do their job every day, and as you can see, we're not even safe at home," said NYSCOPBA Central Region Vice President, Paul Lashway, who's worked with the injured officer. Investigators have declined to say whether the act was random, or, the man was targeted because of his job.
