| Correctional officers protest outside Attica Correctional Facility |

ATTICA — A host of current and former correctional officers joined together outside Attica Correctional Facility on Wednesday to protest increasing violence against prison staff. The New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association organized the protest in hope of raising public awareness in regards to assaults on correctional officers. “We want the public to see what the (correctional officers) deal with on a daily basis,” said Western Region NYSCOPBA Vice President Joe Miano. “Let the public now that the people who go to work everyday in (the prisons) are doing their job and doing it diligently.” Most of the 30 to 40 protesters, and some with their children, work or have worked as a corrections officer in Attica or Wyoming correctional facilities.
