| Attica corrections officers honored for lifesaving response |

ALBANY — Attica Correction Officers Leonard Platt and Trevor MacIntyre’s life-saving actions in response to an inmate-on-inmate attack in November has not gone unnoticed. Platt and MacIntyre were honored by the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Wednesday with Medals of Merit, joining the fewer than 130 officers receiving the commendation in 32 years. According to their citation, security staff at Attica were called up to the second floor of the prison’s C-Block around 8 a.m. Nov. 6 to find an inmate collapsed on the floor with massive blood loss from a stabbing to his neck.
