| Inmate gets 3 extra years in drug case involving child |

A state prison inmate serving a 15-year sentence for robbery was sentenced Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court to another three years in prison for receiving drugs at Maryland Correctional Institution from a child brought in by the inmate’s mother. Danny Eric Gordineer, 24, pleaded guilty to possession of XLR-11, a form of synthetic marijuana or spice. Circuit Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr. sentenced Gordineer to three years consecutive to his current Baltimore County sentences for robbery with a deadly weapon and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. “Prison is a nasty place. It’s getting nastier,” said Long, who added that bringing drugs into prison makes the situation worse. Six other drug- and contraband-related charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
