| Police Search For Inmates Walking Away From Halfway Houses Across The State |

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - More than a handful of people have walked away from multiple halfway houses across the state. Three of the inmates walked away from the Parkview Center in downtown Anchorage, another from Cordova Center, Glenwood Center, and the Genesis Recovery Center. We talked with the spokesperson for the Anchorage Police Department, Jennifer Castro, who says they noticed a large uptick in the months of March and April, but are seeing a lot this month as well. Castro says when someone leaves a halfway house it’s quite a process for police. First police are contacted by the Department of Corrections and an officer has to take that report and get information about the inmate who left, then thee officer has to go apply for the warrant on the escape charge, and work to find the inmate and get them back into custody.
