| Ellsworth County native assumes top job at Ellsworth prison |

A deputy warden at the Ellsworth Correctional facility has been selected to lead the 900-plus bed prison, replacing the previous warden who took the same post at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Martin J. Sauers, 59, a native of Ellsworth County, has worked at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility since 1989 – two years after the prison opened – beginning his career there as a corrections office. He moved up through the ranks at Ellsworth, serving as corrections counselor, unit team manager and classification administrator before named deputy warden in January 2014, according to a Kansas Department of Corrections news release.
