New rules for use of solitary confinement in Nebraska prisons go into effect July 1. The new regulations are a much anticipated change by lawmakers. But some prison employees are said to be worried about how the changes might play out, while observers wonder if the changes go far enough. Nebraska was one of five states chosen in 2015 by the Vera Institute of Justice for a two-year initiative aimed at reducing the use of solitary confinement. Read More. |
