Warden at Lincoln Correctional Center retires

LINCOLN, Neb.-- The Nebraska Department of Corrections said the warden for the Lincoln Correctional Center, Mario Peart, has announced his retirement.

The announcement comes exactly two weeks after two inmates - Armon Dixon, 37, and Timothy Clausen, 52 - escaped from LCC in a laundry truck.

Peart's retirement is effective July 1, 2016, after 39 years of service to the NDCS.

According to the NDCS, Peart began his career at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in 1977 as a counselor in Lincoln, Neb.
