| Hawke's Bay prisoners to be trained for horticulture jobs under new initiative |

Yesterday, the Department of Corrections and Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the new initiative, which will be piloted at Hawke's Bay Regional Prison and involve industry-specific training behind bars. In the longer term, the training will also be offered to community-based offenders. Speaking at the HortNZ Recognised Seasonal Employer Conference in Hawke’s Bay yesterday, Corrections’ Director of Offender Employment and Reintegration, Stephen Cunningham, said the MOU formalised the partnership between the two organisations.
