| Dane County officials stop inmate suicide attempt |

Dane County sheriff's deputies and nursing staff intervened Sunday morning in a suicide attempt by a female inmate in the City-County Building Jail in Madison. The inmate is a 42-year-old woman from the Madison area, and she has been in jail since June 2016. While conducting a security and medical check around 8 a.m. Sunday, a deputy and nurse heard shallow breathing coming from a cell and discovered an inmate with a rope tied around her neck.
