| VADOC recognizes probation and parole officers |

RICHMOND, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- The Virginia Department of Corrections is celebrating its probation and parole officers. It's part of Probation and Parole Officers' Week, which takes place July 17 through 23. Such officers encourage and guide former offenders as they re-enter their communities, working hand-in-hand with a large segment of the law enforcement community to maintain contact with and monitor returning citizens. “We are in the business of public safety and helping people make better choices,” said VADOC Director Harold Clarke. “Probation and parole officers help returning citizens focus on rehabilitation and returning successfully to their communities.
