| Inmates to be released on home incarceration due to crowding |

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Extreme measures are being taken due to extreme overcrowding in Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. A judge ordered some prisoners to be released from Louisville's jail and placed on home incarceration, or HIP. As of Tuesday, roughly 50 inmates fit the bill, according to Chief Circuit Court Judge Charles Cunningham Jr. who signed the order. This is the first time officials are giving this approach a try. "We are strapped and stressed right now and I don't see any light at the end of that tunnel coming anytime soon," Louisville Metro Department of Corrections Director Mark Bolton previously said.
