| Cook County Jail detainee escapes, sheriff's officer fires shots in Fuller Park |

CHICAGO -- A Cook County Jail detainee briefly escaped custody outside of a courthouse Thursday afternoon, prompting a sheriff's officer to open fire in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side. About 4:30 p.m., 18-year-old Jordan Cook was waiting to board a Cook County Department of Corrections bus outside the county courthouse at 155 W. 51st St., when he broke out of line and ran away, according to Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office. During the pursuit, a sheriff's officer fired two shots, but no one was injured, Ansari said.
