Published: 08/12/2016

The Connecticut Department of Correction is investigating an apparent escape attempt from the York Correctional Institution.

At approximately 2:20 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016, the facility was alerted to an offender attempting to scale the perimeter fence of the facility.

Emergency protocols were immediately implemented, to include contact to the Connecticut State Police. As a result of the swift actions of the correctional staff on duty, the offender was quickly apprehended. At no time did the offender breach the secured perimeter fence, which protects the community and surrounds that portion of the facility property. There were no injuries to staff or the offender reported.

The offender was identified as 25-year-old Nicole Goldin of Watertown, CT. She has been in custody at the York Correctional Institution since July 21, 2016 on a $20,000 bond for Criminal Violation of a Protective Order.

The Department of Correction has initiated an investigation and the facility remains on lockdown status.
