Escaped Louisiana inmates back in custody
By Associated Press
Published: 10/20/2003

Two inmates didn't get very far after a weekend jail break in Louisiana.

Both men, accused in separate killings, were captured Sunday not far from the Livingston Parish jail.

Authorities say one man was arrested less than a mile from the jail after a motorist reported seeing him along a state highway.

The second man was captured after an anonymous tip led police to a trailer about a mile from jail. Two other people in the trailer will be charged with helping the escapee.

The inmates escaped by slipping under a chain-link fence and climbing over razor wire after being let out of their cells for exercise.
