| Hostage situation resolved at Vermont prison |

Two inmates at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport held a corrections officer hostage for more than two hours Thursday, the Department of Corrections said. No one was hurt. The department's special response team was notified of the situation at 12:48 p.m. and by 3:13 p.m had resolved the incident "without injury to the staff member or inmates." "One of the inmates was armed with a bladed object," the Vermont State Police said in a statement.
