Political Notes: Sheriff wins correctional union backing

HYANNIS — Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings has received the endorsement of all six local correctional unions in his bid for a fourth term.

The unions that have endorsed Cummings include Barnstable County Corrections Officers Union; International Brotherhood of Correctional Officers; National Association of Government Employees; American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; National Correctional Employees Union Local 122; and National Correctional Employees Union Local 119.

Cummings, a Republican, will face Democrat Randy Azzato, of Falmouth, in the Nov. 8 general election.
