An inmate serving a sentence for false impersonation walked away from a Los Angeles County halfway house Monday afternoon, two months before he was due to be released on probation. It was the second time in four days that an inmate near release fled a county halfway house. The inmate involved in today’s case was identified as Jeffrey Scott Pine, 47, who had been transferred on June 8 from the California Institute for Men in Chino to one of two Male Community Re-entry Program facilities in Los Angeles County, according to Krissi Khokhobashvili of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
