Warren murder suspect Iannotti arrested after six days on the run

Described by police as “dangerous” and “elusive,” the man arrested Tuesday in Shelby Township for the brutal slaying last week of a Warren grandmother has been ordered by a judge to be jailed without bond.

Hours after he was taken into custody following an attempted break-in at a Shelby Township home, Anthony Iannotti was arraigned in Warren district court via video at the Warren Police Department lockup on charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, unlawfully driving away an automobile, and larceny in a building.

When Judge Matthew Sabaugh asked Iannotti to identify himself, the Warren man replied: “Not without a lawyer” and “I’ve asked for two days to see a lawyer.” Iannotti then requested that an attorney be appointed for him at taxpayer expense.

Iannotti, 34, is charged in the Aug. 10 slaying of Dona Lawrence, 61, at her home in the Williamsburg East Apartments. She had been assaulted and stabbed close to 100 times as Iannotti allegedly fought with her to surrender the keys to her vehicle, investigators said.
