Murder convict bludgeons inmate to death in jail, says ‘offering to God’ |

A double-murder convict bludgeoned a fellow inmate to death in his sleep at the central jail here on Wednesday morning. Jail officials said the accused, Arun Kumar, was mentally disturbed. The victim, Sanjiv Kumar (28), was also serving 14-year jail for murder. The accused is serving 20-year jail for the murder of his sister-in-law (brother’s wife) and her daughter-in-law. Before committing the crime, the accused recited some prayers and afterwards proclaimed it as “an offering to the God”. He later regretted killing Sanjiv, saying “he was a good man”. Read More. |
