A Douglas County corrections officer is recovering after being assaulted by an inmate Sunday night. The county Department of Corrections said Monday staff immediately responded to the attack at 8:48 p.m. and secured the inmate, 21-year-old Matthew Lathan, who was jailed for an April convenience store robbery. The officer, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Read More. |
