A Douglas County corrections officer is recovering after being assaulted by an inmate Sunday night. The county Department of Corrections said Monday staff immediately responded to the attack at 8:48 p.m. and secured the inmate, 21-year-old Matthew Lathan, who was jailed for an April convenience store robbery.
