I want to recognize the dedicated employees at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services for their service to the state. I have heard from many employees and I realize the difficult circumstances that they are working under, with high vacancy rates, loss of experienced workers, many overtime hours and the safety issues that they experience on a daily basis. I would like to commend Governor Pete Ricketts for initiating action to immediately begin labor negotiations for staff at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. The Governor’s support for a specific bargaining agreement for corrections staff is a very important factor in the possibility of meaningful salary adjustments. He has recognized the dire need to reward and retain good staff, increase base salaries, and provide flexible schedules. Read More. |
