| Troopers say a 30-year-old DOC inmate in Kenai has died, and they’re investigating the cause |

An inmate at Wildwood Correctional Center on the Kenai Peninsula has died, according to Alaska State Troopers. On Tuesday at 12:21 p.m., the emergency dispatch center in Soldotna received a request for assistance from the prison, troopers said. Troopers and medics in Nikiski responded. About a half-hour after the call, the medics pronounced 30-year-old Walter Shade dead. Shade was from Soldotna, troopers said. The troopers did not confirm it in a dispatch, but online an inmate tracker says Shade had been in the custody of the Alaska Department of Corrections. Read More. |
