OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Oklahomans took the time Thursday to honor Department of Corrections employees killed while in the line of duty. Family and friends made it very clear that those lost were gone but not forgotten in the Sept. 8 service. W.C. Daniel says the hurt of loss is still fresh as he hears his family member's name, Albert Cox, read during the service. In 1977, Cox and an inmate were reported missing. Cox's body was later discovered in a chicken coop. Cox had been stabbed multiple times. The inmate escaped and was never found. Cox served at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary for 12 years.
