| Department of Corrections says disturbances over at four state prisons |

The state Department of Corrections grappled with disturbances at four North Florida prisons during the past week but said “normal operations” had resumed Monday. The department announced last week that a “major disturbance” involving several hundred inmates had occurred Wednesday at Holmes Correctional Institution. It said Monday another major disturbance happened Friday in dorms at Gulf Annex Correctional Institution. In addition, the department said, two dorms at Mayo Correctional Institution were involved Friday and Saturday in work stoppages and attempts to incite disturbances and one dorm was involved in a disturbance Saturday at Jackson Correctional Institution.
