| Prison inmate in critical condition after suicide attempt |

A magisterial inquiry has been initiated after an inmate attempted to take his own life inside his cell at Corradino prison. According to an official statement about the incident, correctional officers found the unnamed inmate in his Division 1 cell at around 11:30am today. The officers immediately gave the inmate first aid, later assisted by a team of paramedics. The inmate was transferred to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was found to be in a critical condition.
