| McCormick inmate stabbed to death in fight |

An inmate at the McCormick Correctional Institution died Sunday after a fight with another inmate. Michael Lorenzo Jones, 43, of North Charleston was stabbed multiple times by another inmate at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday inside a housing unit at the high-security prison, according to Dexter Lee, interim deputy director for communications at the state Department of Corrections. Jones died shortly after 5 p.m., and SCDC police services are investigating the incident, Lee said. The name of the inmate who stabbed Jones has not been released, as the stabbing remains under investigation, he said. Read More. |
