Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner Mark Payne has resigned after being appointed to Correctional Services’ top job. Mr Payne, who resigned yesterday, will take up a more permanent position of Commissioner of Correctional Services after a 10-month stint filling the role on a temporary basis. In a statement to NTPFES staff, Mr Payne thanked everyone for their service and friendship during his career in the police force. “I am proud to have served alongside each of you in frontline policing and in the senior management of our police force over the past 32 years, and in particular my time spent in regional and remote areas of the Northern Territory,” he said.
