| Corrections investigating another assault on a staff member |

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Nebraska Department of Correctional Services staff member was assaulted at the Nebraska State Penitentiary on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Two inmates used homemade weapons to strike a staff member multiple times. Chemical agents were used to stop the assault and gain control of the inmates. The staff member was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released. “We house many violent and dangerous individuals, but we will not tolerate violence within our prisons” said Director Scott R. Frakes. “We will continue to hold accountable those involved in orchestrating and carrying out violent acts.” As a result of the incident, NSP is in modified operations. Read More. |
