| Inmates transferred as Larimer County jail approaches maximum capacity |

LARIMER COUNTY — Over the weekend of Oct. 1-2, the Larimer County jail reached an inmate population of about 590 — even after 15 inmates were temporarily transferred to a Washington County jail. And while the Larimer County jail is home to 617 beds, the facility's maximum capacity is around 600. "The problem with the facility is you can't operate by filling every single bed we have because you have to operate according to the inmates you have," said Capt. Timothy Palmer, division commander of the Larimer County jail. He added that inmates have different holding requirements in order to keep themselves and everyone else in the jail safe. Read More. |
