| Shasta County man serving 150-year sentence found dead in prison |

A Shasta County man serving a 150-year sentence for murder was found dead in his cell at Mule Creek State Prison Tuesday morning. Joshua McCormick, 36, of Anderson was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 6:30 a.m. The prison staff initiated lifesaving measures, but after being unable to revive him, pronounced him dead at 7:33 a.m., officials said. McCormick has been in prison since May 2014, and was serving a sentence of 150 years to life with the possibility of parole for three counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
