A Baldwin County man was killed in a crash Wednesday after he allegedly tossed cellpones and synthetic drugs over a state prison fence, the Alabama Department of Corrections said.

Clint Travis Hunley, 36, of Foley, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was a passenger in exited Interstate 65 South and collided with an SUV at the Highway 59 intersection. The driver of the car -- 26-year-old Jody Lynn Mikel of Jefferson County -- was later arrested after being treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Mikel is facing charges of reckless murder, prohibited activity on prison property, trafficking a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
