| Update: Inmates caught after walking off work release site |

Two state inmates working as trustees in a low-security prison facility in East Baton Rouge Parish walked away from the site on Thursday afternoon. Elwood Billiot, 33, (pictured at left) and Douglas Ellison, 25, were housed at the work-release facility operated by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office when they escaped sometime around 3 p.m., according to Department of Corrections spokesperson Natalie Laborde. Laborde said both inmates were scheduled to be transferred within the next several days to River Correctional Center in Concordia Parish. She said the Dixon Correctional Institute's Chase Team, out of Jackson, is leading the search to find them. Read More. |
