Lancaster County Prison due for state review |

Chronically understaffed Lancaster County Prison, which officials acknowledge is in need of repairs and renovations, is facing a state inspection in three weeks. The Nov. 10 inspection by the state Department of Corrections will look at staffing levels, inmate exercise time, access to legal resources and disciplinary procedures, among other things. The visit by state officials, which occurs at least every two years, comes at the end of a year that saw a new warden appointed and the revelation that an inmate was kept 17 months beyond his scheduled release date due to a clerical mistake.
