Inmate road program discussed by magistrates

During magistrates comments at the Madison County Fiscal Court meeting Tuesday morning, Magistrate Larry Combs revisited the possibility of restarting a work program allowing jail inmates to work picking up trash and weed cutting on local roads, along with other tasks.

Combs noted the county has a vehicle to utilize for the program and inmates would be “tickled to death” to be out working. Combs added, when the program was previously implemented, calls came in from residents happy their roads were being up kept.

“You know I’m in favor of it, “ said Magistrate John Tudor.
