Inmate escapes from Fort Des Moines facility

A felony inmate has been labeled escaped Saturday after he failed to return to Fort Des Moines Work Release Facility in Des Moines after work, according to an Iowa Department of Corrections news release.

David Michael Evans, 30, who is serving a 40 year sentence for assault while participating in a felony and two drug-related charges, is described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes, weighing about 190 pounds. He has notable tattoos on his abdomen, right ankle, upper left arm, back, legs, fingers, forearms, neck and right side, according to the news release.

Authorities ask anyone who sees Evans or who has information on his whereabouts to call police.
