NEW YORK — A correction officer who works at Rikers Island was found safe Friday a day after he was reported missing. Officer Ken Smith was found and is back with his family, Department of Correction said. “On behalf of the entire Correction community, I offer our heartfelt thanks to the individuals and agencies that helped locate our officer,” DOC Commissioner Joseph Ponte said in a statement.
