IDOC investigates death of inmate at Idaho Maximum Security Institution

The Idaho Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an Idaho Maximum Security Institution inmate who died Friday night of apparent natural causes.

According to the Department of Corrections, a correctional officer found 56-year-old Aurelio Moya Barajas on the floor of his sell.

Staff say he was responsive when they entered his cell, but stopped breathing shortly thereafter and had no detectable pulse.

Staff members initiated life-saving procedures but Ada County Paramedics declared Barajas dead at 3:22 am.
