| Lehigh County hires new director of corrections |

With longtime Lehigh County Director of Corrections Ed Sweeney approaching retirement, commissioners hired his replacement Wednesday night. By a 9-0 vote, commissioners approved Mary Sabol, warden of the York County Prison, to oversee operations at the Lehigh County Department of Corrections. The 60-year-old resident of West Manchester Township has worked as a prison administrator for 17 years, according to her resume. The unanimous vote came with little discussion Wednesday, and Sabol thanked commissioners for their support. She enjoys looking for new opportunities, she said, and Lehigh County presented her with a new set of career challenges. Read More. |
