Sheriff hires Salandy as jail administrator |

The new jail administrator will be Bernard Salandy, who has served as the superintendent of the Correctional Work Center, new Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said Thursday. Fitzhugh said he also hired Capt. Chris Fly to transfer with Salandy from the center that houses non-violent offenders to the much larger jail, operated by the sheriff's office. "They are quality people," said Fitzhugh, who accepted appointment to be the interim sheriff about a week ago from the Rutherford County Commission. Fitzhugh announced changes to leadership at the jail the day after former sheriff Robert Arnold pleaded guilty to wire fraud, honest services fraud and extortion by illegally profiting from inmates at the jail in Murfreesboro through the sale of electronic cigarettes from a JailCigs business.
