| Ontario County employee named NYS Corrections Officer of the Year |

ALBANY — Ontario County Chief Corrections Officer Alice Haskins has been called a pioneer in her field. Her innovation when it comes to jail facilities and programs, as well as her longevity, were recognized last week by the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute when she was named 2017 Corrections Officer of the Year. “She clearly exhibits an exceptional degree of dedication and commitment to the professional fulfillment of the difficult and important duties of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and operating our county jail,” said Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero, who nominated Haskins for the award. “She has been a pioneer in standards for correctional health care, including medical care and mental health.” Read More. |
