CANTON — A former Ogdensburg inmate was sentenced to prison Tuesday in St. Lawrence County Court for attempting to possess drugs while incarcerated. Dominico Fuhrtz, 23, an inmate at Midstate Correctional Facility, Marcy, was sentenced to 1½ to 3 years in prison for his guilty plea to a reduced count of third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance as a second-felony offender in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office. As part of the deal, Fuhrtz also had a pending charge of first-degree possession of dangerous prison contraband satisfied against him. About 3:30 p.m. on July 17 at the Riverview Correctional Facility, 1110 Tibbitts Drive, Ogdensburg, Fuhrtz attempted to possess Suboxone strips. Read More. |
