Animals that may be harder to adopt from the Pocatello shelter are given a better chance of finding a forever home through a training program that places shelter dogs with prison inmates. The "Cell Dog Program" has been ongoing since 2005 at the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Facility and is a privilege position for inmates. "It’s a lot of applications, a lot of people want to be part of it but, it takes a specific kind of people to do it...it was a privilege when I got an interview to do it" said Maria Namelwing, Inmate and Dog Trainer.
