| HCSO promotes three officers |

The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office recently recognized three officers during a promotion ceremony. Sergeant Craig Smith was promoted to Lieutenant, Corporal Timothy Sutton was promoted to Sergeant, and Corporal Will Rivers was promoted to Sergeant. Sheriff T.C. Smalls congratulated the officers for their role in leadership, ability, support and dedication to the HCSO within their respective divisions. Lt. Craig Smith started his law enforcement career in October of 1999 with the S.C. Dept. of Corrections. Smith left the Corrections Department and began a career with in policing. While in law enforcement, Smith earned many certifications and accolades. Smith is a Class I Officer and graduate of the SCCJA. Among the notable awards received are Oleoresin Capsicum “OC” Instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing “SFST” Instructor and he was recognized by the S.C. Dept. of Public Safety for DUI Arrests in 2014 and 2015. Smith has been employed with the HCSO for nine years and has been the supervisor of the HCSO Road Patrol Division for the past two years. Lt. Smith is married and has three children. Sgt. Timothy N. Sutton moved to Varnville in 1990 and started his career in law enforcement as a patrolman. Over the years since being in Hampton County, Sutton has worked with the HCSO as well as in Brunson and Gifford. Sutton is presently employed with the HCSO as an Investigator. Sutton is a Class I Officer and graduate of the SCCJA., and was recognized in Strathmore’s 2017 Edition of Who’s Who. Sgt. Sutton is married to Susan Sutton and has three children. Sutton attends Open Arms Fellowship Church and is a member of the Band of Brothers. His goal is to one day see more Christ and less crime in Hampton County. Read More. |
